Angelo Henriquez hoping to follow in David Villa’s footsteps

Angelo Henriquez is looking to emulate David Villa on his loan spell with Real Zaragoza in Liga Adelante.

The 19-year-old Chilean striker is in line to start for Zaragoza this weekend after returning from international duty with Chile who draw with Spain in midweek.

Henriquez has been touted as Real Zaragoza’s saviour in today’s paper edition of MARCA and while he has played down that prospect, he hopes to have as big an impact with the club as Villa has had at his clubs over the years.

Speaking to MARCAHenriquez said: “Villa is a great player and I was lucky to meet him the other day. He is one of my idols. He is a great finisher and I would love to have the same impact as him.

“Each player has a responsibility, but this will be achieved through teamwork. Saviour? No.

“This has just begun and there is time to improve and achieve the ultimate goal. It should be kept calm, do not despair.”

Zaragoza have only scored one goal in four games this season so it obvious that they are in need of a goalscorer to help their campaign get off the ground and Henriquez has been touted as that man.

If Henriquez can repeat the form he has shown this year, he has every chance of succceeding. He followed up a great U20 World Cup tournament with a goal in Manchester United’s pre-season game against AIK, so he is currently in good form going into Zaragoza’s game against Tenerife this weekend.

A loan spell was the right move for Henriquez this season given that he would have had little chance of making first team appearances and if he does well in Spain, he’ll have a real chance of getting some senior appearances under David Moyes back at United sooner rather than later.
