Shinji Kagawa will not be part of Manchester United’s match day squad for Crystal Palace after being sent home with flu.
It was hoped that the 24-year-old may have featured after a brilliant international break with Japan but it seems that his 10,000 mile round trip has taken its toll.
Yesterday, Kagawa looked OK as he took part in training but David Moyes has taken the decision to let Kagawa recuperate from his travels rather than use him against Palace.
Some cynical fans will see Kagawa being sent home as nothing more than smoke and mirrors to cover Moyes’ decision to simply not play him but there is plenty of time for Kagawa to make his bow this month.
With seven games in 21 days, Kagawa will certainly make his first appearance for United in September with the the start of the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen and the Capital One Cup against Liverpool making an extremely busy schedule.
There has been a swathe of impatience and anger towards Moyes not using Kagawa so far this season but we are only three games into the Premier League. Kagawa will be played soon.
