Red Bull Salzburg’s Martin Hinteregger has confirmed that Manchester United and ‘a top Italian club’ are interested in signing him.
The Austria Under-21’s international has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and according to the player himself, United have expressed their interest.
“I confirm, there is interest in me from Manchester United and a top Italian club,” he told TuttoJuve.com.
“I am honoured, I honestly did not expect that. Actually my goal is to stay here, but in any case I will talk to my agent and consider whether a transfer might be beneficial.”
Not much is known about Hinteregger but he has won the Austrian Bundesliga twice with Salzburg as well as coming runners-up and so far this September, he is undefeated in six appearances for both club and country.
And judging by this goal he scored during the summer against Schalke, Hinteregger has been watching some videos of David Beckham.
United are quite stacked in the defensive department but with Ferdinand and Vidic coming towards the end of their United careers, David Moyes is clearly keeping an eye on defenders around Europe.
