Michael Keane followed up his brilliant goal from England Under-21s training this week with an opportunistic finish against San Marino last night.
The 20-year-old defender reacted first to a dropped ball just outside the six yard box and lashed his effort in to give England the lead. He also helped to keep a clean sheet on the night too.
That is Keane’s third competitive goal in the past 12 months having not scored at all prior to that and marks the fantastic progression he has made this calendar year.
He stepped up to Manchester United’s first team last year in the midst of a defensive injury crisis and followed up his good performances there with a very productive loan spell at Leicester City, where he was shortlisted for Player of the Year.
This season, he has played with United’s Under-21s so far but has been touted with another loan spell away and he certainly deserves to be playing regular first team football.
