Adnan Januzaj‘s agent Dirk De Vriese has indicated that negotiations with Manchester United have advanced over the past week but there is no contract in sight just yet.
The 18-year-old’s representatives have been involved in stop-start negotiations with United since the end of last season.
They were delayed due to the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson but have now picked up in their intensity due to Januzaj’s performance against Sunderland.
Speaking with Belgian journalist Jens Cuyphers, De Vriese also denied that any fee had been agreed between United and Januzaj at this stage despite widespread rumours.

The Peoples Person had a chat with Jens about the current situation with Januzaj and find out what the latest is regarding his contract negotiations with United.
TPP: What is the current situation with Adnan Januzaj‘s contract and is the interest from other clubs influencing the deal?
I don’t know whether that interest is complicating the situation but De Vriese and his father are in a strong position to negotiate with Manchester United because of it.
JC: The negotiations are getting to an important stage but it is true that other top European clubs are interested in signing him. I don’t know whether that interest is complicating the situation but De Vriese and his father are in a strong position to negotiate with Manchester United because of it.
Everything is about Januzaj’s career, not the money. The main objective is to make him an important player in whatever team he plays.
TPP: Do you expect a deal to be announced by the end of this week?
JC: Manchester United are doing their very best to sign Januzaj on a new long term deal but it won’t happen this week. It could be completed in the next few weeks but De Vriese remained tight lipped.
TPP: What is the most important thing for Januzaj to secure in the immediate future?
JC: His father has a certain idea and nobody can make him change his mind. Januzaj does whatever his father tells him to and his life is dedicated to his son’s football career.
He knows his son is very talented but he wants to take it step by step. Securing him a lucrative contract without him playing is not what his father wants.
People should give his management and father time to sort things out.
The Peoples Person will bring you any updates on Januzaj’s contract situation as soon as there is any.
