Antonio Valencia has admitted that the potential signing of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona would be ‘great’ for Manchester United and he hopes that a deal can be resolved.
Reports this week claimed that United were ‘crazy’ about signing Sanchez, who was a target for Sir Alex Ferguson before he joined Barcelona, and that David Moyes may rekindle our interest given how well the Chilean is playing.
Sanchez is in sparkling form right having followed up his brace in Barcelona’s 5-1 demolition of Real Valladolid last weekend with a man of the match performance in Chile’s 2-1 victory over Ecuador that secured their spot in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil this week.
And speaking to La Tercera, Valencia praised Sanchez’s performance and admitted how good it would be if he moved to Old Trafford.
He said: “Alexis Sanchez is a great player, you have already seen him against us. He is even important in such a great team as Barcelona.
“It would be great for Alex to arrive at Manchester United. Hopefully we’ll resolve this option and it will end concretely.”
The 24-year-old moved to Spain in a €26 million deal and given how well he has played recently, his price would now likely be upwards of €30 million so Moyes would have to stump up a substantial amount of cash to bring him to United.
There is no doubt that United’s squad would benefit from having a really direct winger like Sanchez, especially when our current wingers including Valencia are playing so poor.
Do you think Manchester United will make a move for Alexis Sanchez?
