A representative of Sarpsborg 08 have confirmed that the club has received a ‘serious offer’ for youngster Kjetil Haug ahead of his proposed move to an academy in England.
The 15-year-old goalkeeper enjoyed a trial at Manchester United a few weeks ago and also spent time at Manchester City and Everton to get a real flavour of English football.
Bjoerge Aaiestad, Sarpsborg’s representative, wouldn’t go as far as to name the club who has made the offer but revealed that they expected another club to come in with an offer for Haug soon.
“We have got a serious offer for Kjetil and we have been informed that another offer will come from another club,” he said.
“What we would like to do is to enter into serious negotiations regarding a transfer of Kjetil.
“Due to respect for the clubs, we do not want to comment on names or whether it is a club Kjetil has visited.”
At 15, Haug is already over 6ft tall and has been compared to United legend Peter Schmeichel for his physical and imposing presence in front of goal. As far as comparisons go, there aren’t many higher than Schmeichel.
Haug has admitted he is a big United fan and while United have the likes of Pierluigi Gollini and Jonny Sutherland in the academy, there is always room for another talented goalkeeper at Carrington.
