David Moyes has highlighted Adnan Januzaj‘s battling qualities as one of his greatest strengths ahead of Manchester United’s game against Norwich tomorrow.
Some wingers have a tendency to go down quite easily and United duo Ashley Young and Luis Nani are guilty of doing that at times but Moyes is confident that is a side you’ll never see from Januzaj.
“If ever there was a boy who can take it, it will be him,” Moyes told The Independent.
“You just hope the referees give him the correct protection, and I’m sure they will, but he won’t be moaning about it – he’s a great lad and he’ll bounce up and get on with it.
“You can kick him as hard as you like and it won’t affect him.”
Stoke decided to adopt a ‘kick him as hard as you like’ policy on Saturday. Within five minutes of being on the pitch, Januzaj had already drawn a number of fouls because it was the only way they could stop him from running past them but instead of staying down, he brushed himself off and was up again within seconds. It was very refreshing to see.
Cristiano Ronaldo was guilty of going down too easy at the start of his United career at the same age but Januzaj has never shown that side before, which is why it was so strange to see him dive against Sunderland.
Januzaj really is the whole package. Work rate, hunger, attitude and ability – he has it all.
