Loan Round Up: Big blow for Bebe while Henriquez continues to shine in Spain

by Tracey Germaine

Bébé (Paços de Ferreira) – Bébé started upfront in a central role for Paços in their Europa League tie against Dnipro. Paços dominated the match and Bébé had a few shots but was unable to convert any of them. Dnipro then scored two goals in quick succession as the game was drawing to a close in order to secure a 2-0 victory.

Paços then slumped to a second defeat when Bébé’s former team, Vitória Guimarães, visited in the league. They had taken the lead after ten minutes but allowed the visitors to get back into the game. Paços lost 3-1 and that result leaves them sitting bottom of the league.

Paços’ coach Costinha resigned after the defeat to Vitória Guimarães. Hopefully this won’t have an affect on the amount of playing that Bébé gets.

Marnick Vermijl (NEC Nijmegen) – Vermijl played the full 90 minutes in NEC’s 2-1 victory over Heerenveen. The Dutch side looked dangerous down the right hand side during the match which gave them their first win of the season. Vermijl played very well and was one of the better players for NEC. The victory lifted them off the bottom of the Eredivise.

Nick Powell (Wigan Athletic) – Powell returned to the midfield as Wigan took on Charlton in the Championship. He created some chances for his team and also had a shot go harmlessly over the bar just past the hour in his side’s 0-0  draw at the Valley. This was the first point that Wigan have picked up on the road since their opening day victory over Barnsley.

Angelo Henriquez (Real Zaragoza) – Henriquez played the full 90 minutes in Zaragoza’s 2-2 draw with Deportivo Alavés. Although he didn’t manage to get on the score sheet, the Chilean striker played very well with lots of movement and creativity. He showed great control to trap and shoot from Cortez’s pass but the goalkeeper managed to save.

Ryan Tunnicliffe (Ipswich Town) – Tunnicliffe played the full match of Ipswich’s draw with Bolton away from home. He had a point blank effort in the first half which forced Lonergan to make a save. He should have put Ipswich in front when he got on the end of Murphy’s cross eight yards from goal but Lonergan was on hand to deny him again. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Davide Petrucci (Royal Antwerp) – Petrucci came on for the second half of Royal Antwerp’s 2-0 loss to Boussu Dour Borinage. Not long after his introduction, he was involved in a great opportunity for Antwerp when his shot, Calabro’s header and Faucher’s overhead kick were all cleared off the line. Then his powerful shot from 30 yards out caused trouble for the opposition keeper but somehow it was kept out.

Jesse Lingard (Birmingham City) – Jesse Lingard was ruled out of Birmingham City’s 1 -1 draw with Derby County at the weekend. Lee Clark is hopeful that Jesse will be fit to face Charlton on 2 November.
