Barcelona may have got a pre-contract agreement with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marc-Andre Ter Stegen according to German newspaper Bild.
The 21-year-old goalkeeper is considered one of the finest prospects in German football and is reportedly on the verge of signing a pre-contract agreement that would see him become a Barcelona player until 2018.
As Victor Valdes has reiterated that he will leave the Nou Camp this summer, they are in the hunt for a new goalkeeper and David de Gea had been the name at the top of many peoples lists, so it would be fantastic news for Manchester United if Ter Stegen moves to Spain this summer. It would delay De Gea’s almost inevitable return to his homeland.
Bild labelled the story as a ‘rumour’ on Twitter but within a few hours, it had gathered real pace with outlets including SPORT, who are running with a front page splash today, and Mundo Deportivo as well as others.

From a United point of view, Ter Stegen joining Barcelona is the best possible news. He is considered the new Manuel Neuer by many and at 21, has a very long career ahead of him.
“I like it that Barcelona are interested in me,” Ter Stegen told SPORT.
Mundo Deportivo have placed Ter Stegen as their #1 choice to replace Valdes while in a poll voted or by over 20,000 votes, Atletico Madrid’s on-loan Thibaut Courtois is the fans choice with 49% of the vote – De Gea only has 11%.
De Gea would likely never move to Real Madrid because of his ties to Athletico and if Ter Stegen becomes the world class goalkeeper many expect him to, De Gea won’t be needed at Barcelona. It would leave him free to stay in Manchester for the long run and United fans would love him to do that.
