Adnan Januzaj has hit the headlines in every single game he has played with Manchester United so far and continued that trend with a commanding performance against Norwich last night.
The 18-year-old takes every game in his stride and seems to get better with each passing minute. It isn’t just the fact that he finds the right pass or makes the right move, it is his clarity of decision that is so striking.
He never looks to be stuck in two minds and always knows what he wants to do. Whether it was a cute back heel pass between two defenders because it was the only way he could get the ball to a team mate or a lovely through ball to set Rafael off down the right, it was all calculated and measured.
Then whenever he found himself out of options on the edge of the box, Januzaj had the confidence to take a shot on. In the first half, the 18-year-old nearly scored a peach of a curler that just went past the post and he had another near miss in the second half when he stroked his shot just wide.
Everything Januzaj does has a sweeping sense of calmness to it. As the game progressed, United resorted to playing corners short to the young Belgian to let him simply walk at the defenders and wait for them to lunge in so he could slip past them like a knife through butter.
It was a nice touch of David Moyes to bring him off as a substitute so he could get the standing ovation his performance so richly deserved.
There really have been very few players who have had the same sort of impact as Januzaj at his age. Giggs and Ronaldo are two such players who spring to mind and look at the legacy they have created at United.
It may be early on in his career but it is so hard not to get excited by everything that Januzaj does.
