Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann has admitted that Ryan Giggs is one of his football heroes ahead of Manchester United’s game against Real Sociedad this evening.
The French Under-21 international has been prolific in La Liga with seven goals in ten appearances from a wide position and against United at Old Trafford two weeks ago, he was one of Sociedad’s most dangerous players.
Left footed, fast, renowned for dribbling, agile and second name beginning with G? Sounds like the second coming of Ryan and if the Welshman can use his powers of persuasion, it could be a move that can materialise.
Griezmann is lethal in front of goal. Last year, he scored 11 goals and had three assists in 33 appearances for Sociedad but is only four away from last year’s total after just ten appearances this season and his stature continues to grow.
Giggs is on his last legs and his spot in the squad will need to be filled. Given the quickly rising stock of Griezmann, David Moyes could be encouraged to make a move soon to secure him.
The fact that Griezmann admitted Giggs was his idol puts United in a strong position if we were to go in for him as Moyes would know that Griezmann would love the chance to work alongside Giggs and potentially replace his spot in the squad over time.
