Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa has dismissed any rumours that the club has received a bid for Eliaquim Mangala.
Mangala has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as far back as March where he admitted he was flattered by United’s reported interest in him and rumours picked up strength once again this week with the Frenchman linked with a €50 million swap deal to Old Trafford that included Anderson going in the opposite direction.
However, Pinto da Costa has brushed off these rumours and told EFE that Porto had no received bids for any players including Mangala.
“Every day there are stories that one club or another wants Mangala but Porto have not received a single offer for him,” Da Costa said.
Pinto da Costa also said that Porto had not received any offers for highly rated duo Jackson Martinez and Nicolas Otamendi.
While Pinto da Costa may well be telling the truth at this stage, Porto are not a club who are particularly renowned for holding onto their best players so a move could certainly happen in the summer for the right price if United’s interest was genuine.
In recent years they have sold the likes of Hulk, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao to name a few that have helped them make a substantial profit on their player transfers, Mangala could become the next high profile exit from the Portuguese club.
