Loan Round Up: Henriquez and Lingard hit the headlines with impressive performances

by Tracey Germaine

Angelo Henriquez (Real Zaragoza) – Henriquez played 70 minutes as Zaragoza slumped to a 2-1 defeat at home against Numancia. He had a chance to open the scoring after a quarter of an hour but his shot went high but he managed to score for Zaragoza just before the hour mark. The ball was crossed into the box where it bounced around for a moment until a defender attempted a clearance and Henriquez volleyed the ball into the left side of the net. However, two goals just ten minutes before the end secured the win for the visiting side.

Jesse Lingard (Birmingham City) – Lingard went straight into the Birmingham starting XI after recovering from a knee injury which kept him out of their previous two matches. Lingard started brightly by intercepting the ball after two minutes to play in Lee Novak down the left but hi shot was well saved. The Blues took the lead through Nikola Zigic and Lingard almost had the opportunity to double it when he was set up to finish but Zigic had been dubiously flagged offside.

Lingard had a right footed shot from outside the box on 36 minutes which was unfortunately saved. Lingard did go on to set up two more goals for Birmingham. The first came from his corner into the Huddersfield box which Kyle Bartley headed into the net to restore the Blues lead. The pair combined again from a set piece when Lingard took a freekick and Bartley once again headed home to make the final score 3-1. Lingard was subbed off in the 82nd minute having given a fine display on his return from injury.

Ryan Tunnicliffe (Ipswich Town) – Tunnicliffe started in central midfield for Ipswich as they took on Blackpool having played most games for them on the left wing this season. He had an effort after 20 minutes after a goalmouth scramble. The goalkeeper was beaten but some last ditch defending deflected his effort just wide of the left post. Tunnicliffe was desperate to get on the score sheet and took up good positions but Nouble twice chose to shoot when he was screaming for the ball in space in the centre. Ipswich won the match 3-2.

Tyler Blackett (Blackpool) – Blackett was dropped to the bench as Blackpool took on Ipswich having started in the previous match. He was an unused substitute in the Tangerine’s 3-2 loss to Ipswich Town.

Davide Petrucci (Royal Antwerp) – Petrucci was an unused substitute in Royal Antwerp’s 2 – 1 win over White Star Bruxelles.
