It was only a few days ago that we hailed Michael Keane’s goalscoring form and he continued that against San Marino on Tuesday night with another very well taken header.
The 20-year-old has now scored three goals in Englands Under-21 Euro 2015 qualifying campaign and because of his brilliant form not only in front of goal but at the heart of defence, he has been linked with a loan move to Charlton before the emergency loan window shuts.
Another loan move is certainly right for Keane at this stage in his career. Although United’s Under-21s are better off with him in the team, his loan spell at Leicester City last year where he was shortlisted for Player of the Year helped him progress rapidly. A move to Charlton could have the same sort of impact and with Ferdinand potentially retiring, there may be a spot in the squad for Keane if he was ready.
Interestingly, if Will Keane‘s loan move to Wigan is completed and Michael does move to Charlton temporarily, they could end up facing against each other in the Championship. That could take their sibling rivalry up a notch.
