The 20-year-old scored an unbelievable four goals on his debut for the Championship side and has gone on to score six goals in his first seven appearances.
This new deal means he will be available for the next eight games for Birmingham over the festive period and it is a fantastic extension for Lingard.
Although Birmingham are teetering just above the relegation zone in the Championship, the experience is paramount to Lingard’s progression and fighting a relegation battle can be just as important as pushing for promotion. It will show Lingard what happens when the coin is flipped and the pressure is on for different reasons.
If his good form continues throughout the festive period, there is a strong possibility that he may remain at Birmingham for the whole season but with the FA Cup starting in January, David Moyes may decide to bring him back for first team football at Old Trafford instead.
