David Moyes has completely rubbished rumours that Robin van Persie is set to leave Manchester United.
Mark Lawrenson sparked a rumour yesterday in an interview with Today FM where he claimed Van Persie had handed in a transfer request but those rumours are completely unfounded according to Moyes.
“That is absolute nonsense,” Moyes responded when asked if Van Persie handed in a transfer request.
“I don’t know what harder or tougher word I could say but that’s as good as I’ve got.”
The rumours that Van Persie had handed in a transfer request probably only surfaced because of his absence in the team because of groin and toe injuries rather than anything else.
Van Persie has every intention of remaining a United player simply because of the impact he had last year. We may currently be going through a very rough time but Van Persie has not yet indicated that he would like to leave Old Trafford.
Moyes rushed him back into the team against Everton because of how important he is to the success of that and it would make no sense for the Dutchman to be looking to leave United so soon after winning the first Premier League medal’s title of his career.
