Manchester United suffered yet another injury blow as Robin van Persie has been ruled out for a month with a thigh strain he sustained against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday while taking a corner a kick.
It is a setback for United to lose Van Persie for another month but as with every injury, opportunity is created for others and in this scenario, particularly Shinji Kagawa.
Kagawa has enjoyed some appearances in the No. 10 role in recent games including away to Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur but it is a consistent run of performances in that role that fans have been craving for. He can now have that.
For one reason or another, Kagawa is yet to re-create the form which made him one of the Bundesliga’s finest players. Be it the players round him, his fitness, his confidence, his position – it doesn’t really matter. What matters now is that he has been a golden opportunity by Van Persie’s injury that he should grab with both hands.
United have desperately lacked creativity in the last few performances, one goal in three games indicates that, and Kagawa is the perfect man to change our fortunes on the creative side of things in that respect.
I have seen some people say that Kagawa’s impact is limited by those around him but he is a top class player and the best in the world can change a game on their own. I want to see that from Kagawa like we have done previously from the likes of Van Persie and Rooney. We all know he has got it in his locker, now is the time to unleash it.
It does seem that Kagawa is beginning to settle properly and we all want him to flourish, hopefully now we will see the real Kagawa stand up.
