David Moyes has confirmed that Shinji Kagawa was left out of the match day squad to face Aston Villa because he hasn’t yet fully recovered from having his stomach pumped.
The 24-year-old played against Shakhtar Donetsk during the week but was far from his free flowing best and it seems that is down to the fallout of his illness.
“He hasn’t recovered physically from the sickness he had [after Everton],” Moyes said after United’s impressive 3-0 victory against Aston Villa.
Moyes didn’t give a time frame on when Kagawa would return but in the absence of Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez through injuries, now was seen as the perfect time for Kagawa to get the run of games many fans felt he needed to blossom at Old Trafford.
He has had purple patches of form but they have been met in equal measure by some invisible performances. Without Van Persie for a month, fans wanted Kagawa to get some regular appearances in his preferred No. 10 role so with games coming quick and fast, hopefully Kagawa’s absence from the squad was only for the Villa game.
