Carrick can’t believe what he saw Evra do and neither can fans

by Sam Peoples

Michael Carrick can’t be involved in the action on the pitch right now for Manchester United so he took to Twitter to get amongst it.

He was ecstatic when Ashley Young‘s ferocious shot flew into the night and, understandably, just as surprised as most United fans when Patrice Evra curled a peachy right footed shot into the net to make it 2-0.

Evra doesn’t score goals too often, let alone his weaker right foot, and his measured finish was more akin to that of a striker than a left back.

On the night, Evra was one of United’s best performers on a tough night with treacherous weather conditions and for him to pull out a finish like that was fantastic.

Despite having little to no rest in the past five years, Evra is still showing no signs of not being able to play two or even three matches per week. It was a surprise to see David Moyes not rest him but given how important he was to the victory, it was a decision that was vindicated.

As for Carrick, there is a possibility that he will be fit in time to return for the match against Hull City on Boxing Day and it has only become just how important he is to United in his absence. The sooner he returns the better.
