Manchester United have been drawn against Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final after a 2-0 victory saw us beat Stoke City last night.
The draw pitted Manchester City against West Ham and if both favourites can win their semi-finals, it will set up a mouthwatering cup final between United and City.
Back in 2010, United played City in the two legged Carling Cup (as it was then called) semi-final. It was a brilliant couple of games between the two with Carlos Tevez smashing City into a lead at the Etihad but thanks to a late goal from Wayne Rooney, we won 4-3 on aggregate.
There was every chance that a semi-final repeat could have happened but by the hand of fate, the only way in which United can now meet City is if both teams win their respective semi-finals.
We have played them in an FA Cup semi-final, League Cup semi-final and title deciders. Of course, we have never played City in a cup final but it seems inevitable that United will play City in a cup final or in Europe this year.
What a tantalising prospect that game is.
