Nick Powell continued his rich vein of form with yet another goal on loan at Wigan Athletic today.
The 19-year-old took advantage of a defensive mistake and showed a great first touch to control a lofted pass before firing a low shot that Reading’s goalkeeper couldn’t keep out.
It looks like Wigan’s change in management hasn’t affected Powell in the slightest as last week he scored an overhead kick and he has now followed it up today with his first away goal in the Championship for Wigan.
Big things are expected of Powell when he comes back to United and the fact he is doing so well out on loan with Wigan is only increasing the excitement.
His goal today now means he has scored eight in all competitions for Wigan from a variety of positions. Against Reading, he was used as a striker but he has also played in central midfield Wigan which is a testament to his flexibility and versatility. Wherever he plays, he always seems to have an impact.
Although United do need to bring some experience into the midfield, Powell would be a fantastic addition to the squad and if he continues to improve so quickly, there is every chance he could become a starter for United.
