Manchester United have confirmed on MUTV that Phil Jones will be sidelined for a couple of weeks with a knee injury.
The 21-year-old had cemented his place in United’s midfield with some dominant performances in the absence of Michael Carrick and it is typical of our season that just when we get some sort of stability in midfield, an injury strikes.
The return of Fletcher and Carrick to the starting line-up and bench respectively is some consolation but for United, it was a breath of fresh air to see someone like Jones play with such energy and vigour in midfield. We got used to our midfield being very pedestrian.
If Jones is out for a couple of weeks then he will definitely miss our games against Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur.
