Croatian wonderkid’s father confirms January move imminent and United is likely destination

by Sam Peoples

Robert Muric‘s father Branko has told 24sata that it is ‘99% certain’ his son will leave Dinamo Zagreb in January and the reports claim from ‘well-informed sources’ that Manchester United have made a bold offer to bring him to Old Trafford.

The 17-year-old has previously been linked with a move to United and Dinamo’s head of youth football has previously said that during the recent Under-17 World Cup, Muric was approached by representatives of Juventus, Monaco, PSG and Arsenal, so United may well have moved to get in their first to snap him up.

“It is 99% certain he will move from Dinamo,” Muric’s father confirmed this week.

As he turns 18 in the summer, Muric will be out of contract so the only way Dinamo will receive any money for him is if he leaves in the winter window and United have reportedly offered up to €10 million for him.

Muric seems to have everything in his locker – dribbling, crossing, shooting, passing, skills, pace and fantastic acceleration. From lovely weighted through balls to arrowed shots, he also seems to do quite well with his decision making, a trait that helped Adnan Januzaj stand head and shoulders above others at his age.

Of course, it is impossible to tell how good or bad a player really is from a compilation video but what it did show was that Muric is a fantastic talent. In Croatia, he is considered part of the ‘golden generation’ alongside Alen Halilovic.

There is always space in United’s academy for the best youngsters from around the world and Muric looks like he could have an immediate impact with the Under-21s given how prolific he has been at youth level already.
