Barcelona are lining up a friendly match in Qatar this February as part of their sponsorship agreement with Qatar Sports Investment and Manchester United or Chelsea are the two potential opponents, according to Sport.es.
Real Madrid took on Paris St Germain today and now it looks like Barcelona are going to have their own money spinning friendly in February but from United’s perspective, it would be ridiculous to agree to a friendly this February in the Middle East.
Here is how our fixture list looks for February already:
01 February – Stoke City
09 February – Fulham
12 February – Arsenal
15 February – FA Cup fifth round
22 February – Crystal Palace
25 February – Olympiacos
Unless we go out of the FA Cup before the fifth round, there is absolutely no time for a foreign friendly but even if we did have time, it would be a pointless venture and a distraction from what we should concentrate on this season.
Chelsea are considered the preferred opponent given Jose Mourinho’s history with Barcelona and hopefully they will oblige so United don’t have to.
