Manchester United move closer to first January signing as Roma’s attempt to trial Velkov rejected

Roma have had a request to take Stefan Velkov on trial rejected by Slavia Sofia, according to 24chasa.

Velkov had a successful trial at Manchester United this month and we have continued to monitor him since his return to Bulgaria. Now that Sofia have rejected Roma’s advances to take Velkov on trial, it puts United in a much stronger position to secure his signature.

The 17-year-old is considered one of Bulgaria’s finest current prospects and has been widely tipped as the ‘new Nemanja Vidic’. At 6″3 with a powerful, physical style of play, it isn’t hard to see why.

Of course, a talent like Velkov’s doesn’t go unnoticed United and Roma aren’t the only two teams interested in signing Velkov as CSKA Moscow are so keen to buy him, they are willing to do so without even seeing him at a trial.

Signing the superstars of tomorrow is just as important to the long term success of United and now that Sofia are willing to reject trials from other established clubs like Roma, it puts United in a strong position to seal the deal in January.
