Moyes: It isn’t true that United have already agreed Coentrao deal

David Moyes has insisted Manchester United have not already agreed a deal to sign Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao in January.

When asked by reporters after tonight’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup semi-final if Coentrao’s agent was in Manchester to conclude a deal, he said the rumours were ‘not true’.

Reports from Spain yesterday suggested that Coentrao was set to join United in January and while that could still be the case, there is no deal currently in place between United and Real Madrid.

Moyes usually bites his lip when asked about players in other teams but he instead decided to respond to the Coentrao rumours which may be a change in approach or a simple one-off.

Tonight’s performance was once again under par and the need for new signings to inject some life into the side is becoming more apparent with each game.
