When Manchester United were linked to Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara last year, all hell broke lose when a message was written on Thiago’s match day ball that translated as ‘see you in Manchester’.
As David de Gea was the only United player in the Spain Under-21 squad, it was assumed it was a message from him and he was seen as the man who could persuade Thiago to move to United.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as Thiago followed Pep Guardiola to Barcelona and we were left empty handed. Now, fellow Atletico Madrid academy graduate Koke is the player linked with a move to Old Trafford and De Gea has got everybody excited by sending a tweet to Koke tonight.

Unfortunately, it isn’t Dave telling Koke to pack his bags for Manchester. Today is his birthday and all he was doing was sending his congratulations to Koke, and a hug.
Of course, De Gea and Koke played with each other for their whole careers up until he left for Manchester and they were close friends, so there is every chance that they are still in regular contact.
If De Gea did want to drop Koke a little message and persuade him that United is the right move for him then that would be much obliged. Work your magic Dave.
With Atletico flying high in La Liga, a January move for Koke seems unlikely but David Moyes has insisted on more than one occasion that he wants to chase the best players. Right now, Koke is one of the best young midfielders in European football.
Hopefully, United’s link with Koke could have a different ending to Thiago’s saga.
