David Moyes has reacted to floating rumours that he and Robin van Persie’s relationship has become strained strained by categorically denying it.
The 30-year-old hasn’t played anywhere near as much football this season because of a few injuries and it has led to claims that Van Persie is frustrated working under Moyes.
However, these rumblings ‘couldn’t be further from the truth’ according to Moyes.
“I keep saying it is untrue but for some reason people don’t want to write it or hear it,” he said.
“When you’re not winning, people look for reasons and probably think I am not getting on with Robin. It couldn’t be further from truth.
“Most people know that I talk pretty straight. I have a really good relationship with Robin, as I do with all the players.”
Back in September, Van Persie came out in support of Moyes and insisted he was happy working with his training methods yet as our season has continued to unravel, the rumours have continued in the background.
When things aren’t going your way, it is inevitable that rumours of tensions in the camp will come out in the British press and so it has proved with Moyes and Van Persie.
The last thing United need is any sort of division in the team and the press knows that but all we can do is continue to present a United front which Moyes has done. Now, we need to start turning out the results on the pitch.
