Now that Chelsea have been ruled out of the picture for another midfielder given their plethora of options , attention has turned to Manchester United and Tuttomercatoweb believe that a deal could be in the early stages.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also discussed a deal for any potential deal and said the stumbling block between Inter and United would be on Guarin’s as he is also so highly valued, as there would be a reported €3 million difference.
Inter are desperate to get rid of Guarin in order to generate some cash so they can try to bring in 28-year-old Hernanes from Lazio as a replacement. Until Guarin has gone, that can’t happen.
But from a United’s perspective, is he the right man?
While Guarin would certainly help the squad, he would probably not be considered good enough to improve United’s midfield in the long-term? Unpredictable and occasionally frustrating, he carries some of the same characteristic as Anderson and it would be strange for Moyes to let Anderson go only for a nother similar player come in.
David Moyes has stood firm that short-term options in January aren’t his goal and although Guarin would be a boost to United this season, he isn’t a top class long-term player which is what Moyes is looking for.
