Transfer round up: Mata’s United move makes sense but Cavani’s doesn’t

Chelsea’s Juan Mata is first on the list. United were heavily linked with a swap deal for the Spaniard in the summer but nothing materialised as we stood firm on Wayne Rooney being for sale.

However, this season at Chelsea Mourinho has chosen not to play Mata and his discontent is growing. If we went in with a loan move until the summer, it could suit all parties involved.

Potential 6/10

The Daily Star believes Manchester United have entered the race to sign FC Schalke’s Julian Draxler. He is the latest in a line of prodigiously talented youngsters to come through in German football. Schalke have already signed Sidney Sam, who is considered Draxler’s long term replacement.

Potential to move – 5/10

It isn’t only Draxler who the Daily Star has been linking us with as Paris St Germain striker Edison Cavani is another name that has been thrown around. However, there are so many more reason why he wouldn’t join us than would, least not for the fact we have Van Persie and Rooney in the squad already alongside Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.

Potential 2/10

The Mirror have linked us with a move for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno and given our delicate situation at left back, it should be seen as a priority place to strengthen.

Moreno is seen as a potential long term replacement to Coentrao at Real Madrid which indicates he could grow to become better than Coentrao. He is willing to leave Sevilla and that could potentially play into our hands.

Potential 6/10
