Long term United midfield target admits he could leave for big bid

Long term Manchester United target Nicolas Gaitan has pledged his future to Benfica but left the door open if a big bid came in for him like it did for Nemanja Matic,

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for over a year as back in January 2013, United were linked with a move for Benfica pair Garay and Gaitan.

Although Gaitan insisted he wanted to see out his contract with Benfica, he has said that big money could change things.

“I am at Benfica now. I have a contract until 2016 and I want to respect that,” the Argentine told reporters according to Goal.com

“If an offer comes in like the one that Benfica received for Nemanja Matic, we’ll see what happens.

“But for now, I am just thinking about playing football and the rest does not depend on me.”

Right now, Gaitan looks settled at Benfica but they are renowned for selling at the right price.

The likes of Fabio Coentrao, Javi Garcia, Nemanja Matic and Axel Witsel have all left for massive profits which means there every chance Gaitan could be next. It is just what Benfica do when it comes to player transfers.

Back in May 2012, Gaitan’s agent goaded interest from United by admitting Gaitan wanted to play in England yet nothing materialised from it.

If that opinion hasn’t changed, Gaitan would be another midfielder who is available this January if United coughed up the cash but is he the type of player that Moyes wants?
