Adnan Januzaj‘s agent Dirk de Vriese has cooled speculation that Barcelona and Real Madrid have approached Januzaj in January following Manchester United’s poor form this season, but did admit the young Belgian might be considering his options.
The 18-year-old has built on a promising pre-season to become a prominent player in our starting XI and against Chelsea at the weekend, he was the brightest spark in a disappointing result.
Fans were understandably ecstatic when Januzaj signed a five year deal with United and will be happy to know that the big clubs from Spain have stayed away from Januzaj since.
“It’s normal that teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in a player like Januzaj but no specific contacts or offers were made,” De Vriese told Belgian journalist Jens Cuypers yesterday.
The reality that his agent has openly admitted Januzaj may consider his options isn’t a surprise given our inconsistent Premier League form, but it is a worry nevertheless.
Januzaj previously stated he wanted to stay at United for life but he could become disillusioned by Old Trafford if we cannot turn our fortunes around this season, and hopefully the return of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will help with that.
Thanks to @Jens_Cuypers for the information.
