Mata latest – United agree £37m fee and medical will be completed today

Juan Mata will be unveiled as a Manchester a United player today after Chelsea accepted a £37 million offer from us for the Spanish playmaker.

All the major news outlets including (but not limited to) The TelegraphThe IndependentThe Times and the BBChave run with the story. Either it is really happening or the press have been majorly duped. We’re hoping for the former.

Again, all the reports are unanimous when they say that Mata will complete his medical later on today and be unveiled as a United player before the weekend.

It’s hard to not get giddy about a signing of this magnitude because United rarely buy an established world class player, it is usually the United way to create superstars instead.

However, circumstances have dictated we’re in need of fresh, established faces a la the transfer of Van Persie. He was massively important during his debut for us and Mata could have a similar impact for United this season.

Right now, there looks to be nothing that can stop Mata’s transfer from going through and so long as he completes his medical, he will become Moyes’ second signing as United manager.
