Juan Mata will undergo his Manchester United medical this evening and will be announced as a United player tomorrow according to Sky Sports News.
Earlier today, news broke that Mata had reportedly arrived in Manchester for his medical and fans hoped that an announcement would happen tonight but it looks like we will have to wait a little while longer before anything is confirmed officially by the club.
Chelsea have today completed the signing of FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Salah pending a successful medical and his arrival is seen as the last hurdle for any Mata deal being completed with United. Now that has gone through, it should pave the way for Mata’s move to Old Trafford..
Mata’s medical would take place at Bridgewater hospital and it would then just be a case of signing paperwork back at Carrington before an announcement can be made.
As much as the anticipation and fear of any deal not going through is enough to make you bite your nails off, United fans will be happy to wait until tomorrow so long as the Mata deal can be completed.
David Moyes was reportedly going to visit Germany tomorrow to watch Bayern Munich in action against Borussia Monchengladbach but until Mata is finalised, he might put that trip on hold.
Update: Moyes has now left Carrington so it is unlikely that any deal will be agreed tonight. Hopefully it will be completed tomorrow because the longer it goes on, the more nervous United fans get that it may not go through.
