Transfer round up: United turn down Barcelona midfielder, Rooney to stay and German pair remain coy

David Moyes turned down the opportunity to sign Alex Song when he was offered him, presumably because he felt he was either not good enough to help United’s Premier League odds or was the wrong fit.

Wayne Rooney could now perform a U-turn on his United career and be ready to sign a new long term contract because the arrival of Juan Mata is such a signal of intent from United.

Federico Macheda could follow Anderson to Fiorentina as the Serie A club have made enquiries about his availability. United are not willing to give Macheda a new contract in the summer when his current one retires and he has no desire to  sign one either.

Borussia Monchengladbach duo Max Kruse and Patrick Herrmann have both ruled out a move to United in January. David Moyes is expected to watch them both in action on Friday in Germany but they won’t be joining in the winter transfer window.

Hernanes is another midfielder who United have now been linked with and the 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder could be available for €20 million. Reports suggest Hernanes’ representatives have already been in contact with United.

Javier Hernandez wants to leave United in order to find more first team football according to The Mirror. Chicharito has been out of favour this season and has struggled when he has been given the opportunity and David Moyes has made it clear with his selection that Chicharito may struggle to ever hold down a regular starting spot.
