David Moyes went to Germany last night on a potential scouting mission and watched Bayern Munich comfortably beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0.
Before his visit, the players United were strongly linked to were Munich defender Dante and Monchengladbach pair Max Kruse and Patrick Herrmann.
However, there is strong reason to suggest that Munich midfielder Toni Kroos may have been the player we were looking at.
Moyes was pictured outside and inside the stadium with Sascha Breese, a representative of the agency Sports Total who is in control of a host of players including Toni Kroos, Mario Goetze and Marco Reus.
Both Bild and the Daily Mail have covered the story and Kroos is yet to agree a new deal with Bayern Munich, so there is every reason to suggest that Moyes was talking to Breese about his availability.
Also, as Dortmund is less than 60 miles down the road from Dusseldorf, Moyes may well watch them in action early tomorrow afternoon where he could see Reus in the flesh. Potentially, he could meet up with Ilkay Gundogan’s representatives as well.
United may have an agreement for Juan Mata that will be completed this weekend but Moyes isn’t in Germany just for football knowledge, no matter how much he would have you believe it.
Strong rumours are circling that United are going to bring another face in this window and Moyes’ trip to Germany, on the day we were negotiating a deal or our club record transfer, give that speculation legs.
