Rooney sends a message to fans after an ‘exciting debut for Mata’

by Sam Peoples

Wayne Rooney returned to action against Cardiff City last night after a five game absence because of a groin injury and it was great to see him back on the pitch.

His second half cameo wasn’t anything spectacular but just having him back in the squad is a massive boost because of how instrumental he has been for us this season.

Fans were happy to see him back playing again and Rooney himself was too. He took to Facebook to send a thank you to the fans for the atmosphere on the night:

“Great night at Old Trafford tonight! 3 points, an exciting debut for Juan Mata and the return from injury for Robin and myself. Thanks to all the fans for the brilliant atmosphere and getting behind the team!”

It was the perfect professional performance from United to get three points without kicking into third gear and the fans were indeed fantastic at Old Trafford last night, as they have been all season despite the performances of United.

United have struggled all season with injuries but if our team can now hold fitness, we’re going to have such a strong side including Rooney, Mata and Van Persie. It is an attack that is worthy of winning any league.
