”He is an important player, but it can go fast in football. Here today, there tomorrow,” Guardiola said.
Both papers indicated that Guardiola said these comments after Munich’s 2-1 win yesterday following Kroos’ angry reaction to being substituted, but they were in fact made earlier this week. The Peoples Person reported the Guardiola quotes on 28 January, not after the match.
So, Guardiola didn’t say that about Kroos’ future in reaction to his frustration at being substituted but simply as an overview of his current situation in Bavaria with his uncertain future up in the air.
Of course, although the timing of the Guardiola quotes has been misconstrued, the message behind them still stands clear – Kroos is not guaranteed to be a player at Munich come the start of the 2014/15 season.
That should bring David Moyes to the edge of his seat and he will surely have been buoyed by all the speculation. Kroos’ agent may be playing a game with the speculation but if Moyes went in with a strong bid and strikes while the iron is hot, he has a much better chancec of being successful. Moyes, sign him up.
