Fabio Coentrao was the flavour of the month only a couple of weeks ago and his move to Manchester United looked certain to go through.
However, progress has stalled on any potential move and although Coentrao wants to leave because of his limited opportunities in Spain, Madrid don’t want to let him go due to a lack of cover at left-back according to AS.
United’s deadline day bid to sign Coentrao fell through for exactly the same reason in the summer and Carlo Ancelotti’s insistence that he wants natural cover for Marcelo could see Coentrao’s move scuppered altogether once again.
Earlier this month, reports emanated that Madrid were close to signing Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno which would pave the way for a move to Old Trafford for Coentrao but so far, there has been no movement on that.
As well as United, Milan and Napoli have been credited with an interest for Coentrao yet despite growing interest, Ancelotti has stood firm and it is looking increasingly likely that will stop a deadline day move for Coentrao going through again.
