David Moyes confirms good news on double injury

David Moyes has confirmed that Jonny Evans went off with a calf strain against Stoke and Phil Jones suffered concussion but insisted that it was not a concern.

Play stopped for a prolonged period with Jones lying on the pitch and he was stretchered off so it was feared that he may have sustained some real damage in a clash of heads but fortunately, he has suffered some mild concussion.

As for Evans, a calf strain is the latest niggling injury to mar the Northern Irishman’s season and his luck isn’t getting any better.

Neither is United’s luck. We started the game against Stoke City with the strongest XI we had put out in a long time but thanks to two injuries to Evans and Jones, it was a makeshift XI by the time the half-time whistle went.

United haven’t had defensive stability at the back this year and it has really hurt us in terms of being watertight in defence, so having a double injury to Jones and Evans is another massive blow to us with Vidic still out suspended and Ferdinand not fully fit.

Thankfully, judging by Moyes’ comments, they won’t be sidelined for too long.
