Manchester United will be involved in the 2014 International Champions Cup as part of the pre-season tour of America and will face the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan in the tournament.
The competition will be held in 13 cities between 26 July and 4 August, and will be an opportunity for United to play some competitive football in the pre-season instead of showpiece fixtures against local teams.
Every team will play at least three matches in the tournament before the two winners of each group will meet in the final at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, where David Beckham intends to buy his very own MLS franchise.
It will be a chance for the players to play some genuinely competitive football in the pre-season. Although they will still be friendlies, lining up against some of the best teams will certainly make the players want to perform.
The only question is how many World Cup players would be involved as this tournament starts two weeks after the end of Brazil’s 2014 World Cup.
