PICTURE: Shinji Kagawa is all smiles but where has he gone?

by Sam Peoples

Shinji Kagawa looked happy as larry at Carrington in a photo Rafael uploaded to his Instagram account yesterday but the Japanese playmaker has gone off the radar in the past few weeks at Manchester United.

Since playing for an hour in United’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland, Kagawa hasn’t played one minute of football in the past three games.

There has been no mention of an injury to Kagawa and he was an unused substitute in two out of the three games he missed (didn’t feature in match day squad against Stoke), so it must simply be a case of David Moyes choosing not to play him.

Juan Mata‘s arrival was always seen as another potential hurdle for Kagawa in terms of getting game time and so it has proved.

Ryan Giggs’ memorable moment T-shirt has been reduced to £9.99 for today only.

Earlier this week, Kagawa gave an honest assessment on how he was disappointed with his performances this season and for fans who had been frustrated at how he had played, it was exactly what we needed to hear.

Accepting he has underperformed means he knows he has to improve but by the looks of it, he is far down the pecking order at United right now under Moyes.

We may have to wait until the Champions League returns to see what Kagawa can do in the second half of this season because that is where the Japanese playmaker has played his best football this year and with Juan Mata cup tied, it will be a place he can really stake his claim to a regular starting berth.

Do you think David Moyes should play Shinji Kagawa more often or is he right to play others in front of him?
