Mata on Moyes making him feel important again, playing on the wings and happiness at Old Trafford

Juan Mata has admitted he is very happy now that he has settled into Manchester United thanks to both the players and David Moyes.

The 25-year-old has also insisted that Moyes has made him feel like an important player again and given how little football he was playing at Chelsea, it was always a case of making him feel like an integral part of the team which he has been so far.

There have been some fans who have questioned Moyes’ positional use of Mata so far at United but the Spaniard has said he is more than happy to play in any of the front three positions as he has done so all the way through his career.

He added: “Throughout my career I have played on the left, on the right and just behind the striker. I don’t mind playing anywhere the manager tells me.”

Mata has been used as a No. 10 as well as on both wings and although he has been most effective through the middle, he seems happy to play anywhere so long as he is on the pitch.

“I am happy at the club, very happy,” Mata continued. “I am enjoying my football, I am getting minutes on the pitch, I am in a very, very big club and I hope we finish the season well.

David De Gea has helped me settle, the same with Chicharito (Javier Hernandez), (Antonio) Valencia, and Rafael, they all speak Spanish but everyone there has helped me.

“People like (Ryan) Giggs have been here for many years and there’s (Wayne) Rooney and (Robin) van Persie, they have all treated me phenomenally well.”

Mata has travelled with the squad to Dubai for a warm weather break and is looking forward to getting the most out of it.

“We are going to rest a bit, train as a group and prepare ourselves for the rest of the season,” he said.

“Once we come back from this mini break hopefully we will win many matches.”
