Arsene Wenger has met with Robin van Persie’s agent to discuss a potential return to Arsenal in the summer and both sides want a deal to happen, according to Tancredi Palmeri.
He claims Wenger met Van Persie’s agent on 28 January, that both deliberately want deal to happen and that United were open to the idea.
Palmeri’s reputation isn’t the strongest in the business but even if he is wide of the mark, the possibility of Van Persie leaving in the summer very much exists.
He joined United for silverware but there is no guarantees for how we will play next year as it all depends on how well we do in the summer transfer window and at his age, he may not be willing to wait around to find out.

Stories of Van Persie’s potential unrest at United this season have been in the news all year, and although he has scored three in four games since his return from a groin injury, Van Persie isn’t playing as freely as he was last year.
Would Arsenal fans want Van Persie back? No, but Arsenal fans never wanted Van Persie to join United in the first place, so it is clear they have little say in who goes where.
Wenger already took the biggest backlash when he sold Van Persie to United and if it turns out that the Dutchman does want to leave United this year, don’t be altogether surprised if he does end up returning to Arsenal.
