Four first team players missed Manchester United’s trip to Dubai

Jonny Evans, Phil Jones, Rafael and Nani were the only Manchester United players who missed out on the warm weather training trip to Dubai this week as they were all recovering from injuries.

It was hoped that Evans would have been fit enough to make the trip having been sidelined with a calf injury since limping off against Stoke, but it hasn’t proved to be the case.

Jones has been out injured since suffering concussion, in the game against Stoke as well, and was clearly left behind at Carrington to continue a personal recuperation program.

As for Rafael, he suffered concussion in United’s defeat to Arsenal and his exclusion from the trip could merely have been for precaution than anything else.

Long-term absentee Nani missed the trip and he is likely to be out for a while longer with a bad hamstring injury.

All three of Jones, Evans and Rafael could start against Crystal Palace if they are deemed fit to play but given that David Moyes has been working on the squad without them in Dubai, he may decide to use an XI from those who were on the trip.
