David Moyes has refused to confirm that Wayne Rooney has signed a new contract with Manchester United and has instead said that news will filter out from the club when it is ready to be released.
BBC Sport broke the news this morning that Rooney had put pen to paper on a new five and a half year worth £300,000 per week but when questioned by reporters in this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, Moyes remained coy on the topic and didn’t give anything away regarding his new contract.
Moyes praised Rooney and insisted it would be great for United if a deal can be agreed.
Moyes on @WayneRooney contract talks: “When we have news we'll tell you. He's a terrific player. If we can get it done it’ll be great."

Did the BBC jump the gun this morning with their news? It seems like it but they are rarely wrong when it comes to breaking stories like this and at this stage, it seems more a case of when rather than if in regards to Rooney’s new deal at Manchester United.
