PICTURE: Cantona’s coming to town

Manchester United travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday but instead of the football being the main talking point leading up to the game, it is somebody else – Eric Cantona.

Selhurst Park was where Cantona drop-kicked Matthew Simmons into next week back in 1995 following racist comments and it resulted in his nine month ban from football.

United fans intend to take Eric to town on Saturday with plenty of masks and flags (and expect the away end to be singing Five Cantonas from the first to last whistle).

The prospect of Cantona masks has angered some Crystal Palace fans (see the Daily Mail and Croydon Advertiser) but it isn’t going to stop anything.

On Saturday, there will be a full-blown French invasion in Crystal Palace, led by hundreds of Cantona’s.
