Crystal Palace vs Manchester United – Predicted XI – Moyes’ all out attacking team

by Tom Newbold

David de Gea – The Spaniard will be looking for his first consecutive clean sheets since mid-December with a good performance.

Rafael – Assuming Rafael has sufficiently recovered from his knock against Arsenal, he will start against Crystal Palace.

Chris Smalling – Before United’s ten-day break, Smalling was in superb form that he will hoping for the chance to continue from now to the end of the season.

Nemanja Vidic – With no news on the fitness of Jonny Evans, United’s Serb captain (until he walks away from the club) is likely to start.

Patrice Evra – Evra is definitely struggling for form at the moment but that may partially be due to the amount of games he has to play, something the Red’s warm-weather break may have helped.

Michael Carrick – The warm-weather break will also have been vital for Michael Carrick who will have a pivotal role to play in central midfield from now to the end of the season.

crystal-palace-away-22-febDarren Fletcher – Tom Cleverley is perhaps more likely to start the Champions League game in midweek, meaning the more experienced Fletcher may accompany Carrick in midfield on Saturday.

Juan Mata – It would be a surprise if David Moyes didn’t pick his £37 million man at the weekend but the Spaniard needs to start influencing games in a bigger way than he has done so far.

Adnan Januzaj – Perhaps unlikely to start against Olympiacos on Tuesday, Januzaj is likely to start this fixture against Crystal Palace.

Wayne Rooney -Rooney will be looking to recover some of the form he was enjoying before his injury in January with a big performance against the London side.

Robin van Persie – With the Champions League game on Tuesday, it can be expected that at least one of Van Persie and Rooney fail the last the 90 minutes in this fixture.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

With no obvious indications of players’ fitness from Moyes, it is guesswork to see who is available at the weekend. Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jones may well be pushing for places after injury whilst Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young may be pushing for a start too.

Moyes will be mindful of a big European tie on Tuesday, a game that he may well utilise Shinji Kagawa in. For now, many United fans may get to see the front four they’ve been craving on Saturday against Crystal Palace.
