David Moyes is yet to make a decision on who will be Manchester United’s new captain when Nemanja Vidic leaves in the summer.
When asked by reporters whether Wayne Rooney was in the running for the armband and whether he would be chosen, Moyes confirmed there was every possibility Rooney could take the armband but insisted no decision had yet been taken.
“Yes, it’s possible but I wouldn’t want to say until the summer time,” Moyes said to the press when questioned on Rooney’s captaincy credentials.
There are a host of players linked to the captaincy role including (but not limited to) Phil Jones, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher but Rooney is the one many feel will be given the responsibility by Moyes because of how much that has been given to him already this season.
However, no decision has yet been made and it sounds like we will have to wait until the summer before we find out who is given United’s armband.
